Derek Ryan - Dance Night - at The Landmark

  • The Landmark Presents

    Derek Ryan (Dance Night)
    Satrurday 22nd July
    Doors open 10pm
    Tickets on the door

From the age of twelve Derek Ryan had showbiz aspirations in his DNA. From his first foray into the music scene performing regularly at socials with his brother Adrian as the Ryan Brothers right through to a pop career with an international band he has now become one of today’s biggest Irish Country artists.

Although his early exposure to the live scene was modest, not even he could have predicted what lay ahead - a career that many can only dream about standing in front of the dressing room mirror strumming a beaten up acoustic guitar.

Having grown up in Garyhill near Carlow town in Ireland, Derek was bred into loving Irish traditional music by his family, attending fleadh ceoils on a regular basis with his Father. It was not long before Derek was himself a winner, picking up two all-Ireland titles in both bodhran and ceili drumming.

Having caught the bug it was all his parents could do to persuade him to finish his schooling with the promise if he completed, they would do all they could to help him follow his showbiz dream and dreams do come true as Derek has proven.

Joining a boy band called D-Side in 2001 Derek had success with them achieving a number one in Japan as well as numerous top 10 hits in Ireland, UK, France, Germany and China. After his time in D-side, Derek returned to Ireland in September 2009, after several years of gigging on the London function scene, Derek took time to consider many offers that were coming his way. Unable to shake off the sounds that resonated from his Mother’s kitchen radio, Derek got hooked on Nashville greats; like Brooks, Jackson and Strait and so the plans were laid to go for it.

Having spent a couple of years studying as an accountant he also started writing his first songs. Following many competition victories including 'A Song for Carlow' and the 'International Song of Peace' and album cuts for various artists in Ireland and abroad, he was offered a publishing deal with the well regarded DWB music in Surrey, UK. He collaborated with writers in Britain and in the home of country music, Nashville, Tennessee. There is no limit to Derek’s potential.

Derek’s love and passion for country are best measured in his song writing ability as was seen in his debut single ‘God’s Plan’ Having also penned the official song for the Gathering in Ireland last year called ‘Welcome Home’ Derek has undeniable talent and ability receiving enormous airplay and a deafening call from fans to get on the road to play his hits live. From that moment Derek rarely has a day off, travelling across Ireland playing in crowded Irish dance halls and most recently performing at sell out concerts in England and Scotland.
Derek’s most recent album, “The Simple Things” has recently topped the Irish charts, over taking some big names for the top spot. The album includes hit singles “Flowers In Her Hair” and “Hold Onto Your Hat” featuring Sharon Shannon. Sharon Shannon is well known for her many different musical collaborations ranging from Shane Mac Gowan of The Pogues to Imelda May, not to forget her number one hit “Galway Girl” with Steve Earle.

His rise to stardom on the country scene has been phenomenal and there are few country stars who can claim to have made such an impact in just over two years. Not only has Derek’s concert tour sold out in venues across the country, he has also swept the board at award nights this year receiving “Best Live Performer of the Year” from the Sunday World and was also honoured to be awarded with "Album of The Year" for his fantastic fourth album, Country Soul, by Irish Country Sound. His success has not stopped here with his single “The Entertainer”, making it to No.2 in the UK iTunes country charts in the first week of its release, with heavy competition!
Derek is well ahead of his dream. He has recently celebrated his fourth year on the road with his band in Ireland, four years in which they have gained a huge following up and down the country. Not only is Derek a star in the Emerald Isle, he also has a huge fanbase in the UK, where he often tours, and even in Australia, where Derek and the band travelled to earlier in the year for their first international tour – which was a huge success.

Gerry Guthrie - Dance Night - at The Landmark

  • The Landmark Presents
    Gerry Guthrie (Dance Night)
    followed by Country Disco
    Saturday 29th July
    Doors open 10pm
    Tickets on the door

Ballina based singer Gerry Guthrie has been fronting his own Country Band for the past five years. During this time he has toured extensively throughout Ireland. Gerry’s success, on the country music scene in England and Scotland, has in a relatively short time made him a household name in the UK.

In the years preceding the launch of his own band, Gerry worked as a guitar player in several popular Irish bands. He also pursued a successful solo career, mainly in Connaught. During the past five years Gerry has received numerous prestigious awards. In 2014 Gerry was awarded the ‘Best Country Musician Award’ at the Sunday World Music Awards. In 2015 Gerry was presented with the ‘Performer Of The Year Award’ at the Irish Farmers Journal Awards night.

This year at the Sunday World Music Awards Gerry received the ‘Radio Single Award.’ To date Gerry has released four studio albums and a number of promotional singles including ‘The Lucky Horseshoe’, which was written especially for him by his manager/songwriter Henry Mc Mahon and ‘Second Hand Heart’ an original song by Derry based singer songwriter Peter Mc Keever.

‘A New Moon Over My Shoulder’ is the well recognised title of Gerry’s new 12-track CD release. This is a true authentic ‘Country album’ in every sense of the word. All 12 tracks are notable country songs and covers, some of which were recorded by major American country artists including; Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins.

The widely popular title track of the album ‘A New Moon Over My Shoulder’ was an exceptionally successful single release for Gerry in 2016. Other singles that feature on this CD are the Joni Harms song ‘Joseph Built The Cradle’, ‘Don’t She Look Good When She Smiles’, ‘Talking To The Wrong Man’ (Duet with Brendan Quinn) and Gerry’s recent release ‘Battle Hymn Of Love’

The final track on the album is ‘Lucille’, which was recorded by Kenny Rodgers and became a huge international hit for him, reaching number five in the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977. This song was inspired by a real life event; however, the barroom situation and location was an add-on. Gerry previously released this song as a single a few years ago.

Other tracks on this album are ‘You’re Still On My Mind’, ‘Walking In The Sun’, ‘Gene Autry My Hero’, ‘If You’re Gonna Walk, I’m Gonna Crawl’ and ‘If Those Lips Could Only Speak’, which many people will remember from the 1970’s.

2016 proved to be a particularly good year for Gerry Guthrie, with his band consistently playing the top dance venues in Ireland. Gerry and the band travelled to the Highlands of Scotland on two occasions, where they are now well established with local audiences, and played to full houses.

Gerry is looking forward to a busy 2017, including tours of Ireland and the UK, and is already back in the recording studio working on new music.

Robert Mizzell - Dance Night - at The Landmark

  • Saturday 26th August
    The Landmark presents
    Doors open 10pm
    Tickets available on the door

Robert Mizzell has made Ireland his home for over 20 years. He served his apprenticeship in Country Music since he first arrived here. The father and husband is now one of the top Country Music Artists in Ireland, enjoying huge success all around the country. He has released 11 solo studio albums and 2 full length DVD’s
to date and is constantly touring Ireland and the UK with his band. Robert was voted ‘Ireland’s Favourite Country Music Singer’ in a poll conducted by RSVP magazine.

Robert was born in Louisiana, the Bayou State and raised on the shores of Lake Bistineau near Shreveport. His early musical influences came from his parents, whom both performed in a Church Gospel group. At the age of 17, Robert moved to Connecticut where he worked with his father in the painting and decorating business. He then joined the US Army where he served for a number of years. After his military service he moved to Ireland with dreams of a career in country music.

‘Kick Ass Country’ was Robert’s first major hit, but it was the song ‘Say You Love Me’ that made him a household name in Ireland. More of his hit songs include ‘Mama Courtney’, Day Job’, ‘John Deer Beer’, ‘Louisiana Saturday Night’ and Wham Bam’ to name a few…

Robert has recorded many songs in his career, but two of the highlights were in 2010 when he released a very personal, original song, written for him by Henry McMahon namely ‘Mama Courtney’. This tells the story of his upbringing in Shreveport by his Foster Mother. He also recorded a cover of ‘Murder on Music Row’ with top American Country Artist, Collin Raye. Both singles reached the number one position on the European Country music charts during 2010 and remained in the charts for twenty weeks.

Saturday, the 29th of October 2011 was a very special day for Robert Mizzell. He was inducted into Shreveport’s ‘Walk of Stars’ in recognition of his achievements in the world of Country Music. This date is now known as ‘Robert Mizzell Day’ in Shreveport. This was a huge honour to receive, given he is a native son of Louisiana and it is the highest accolade his own home city can bestow on him. Some other people who are inductees are; Elvis Presley (posthumously), Merle Kilgore (who co-wrote ‘Ring of Fire’ with June Carter Cash) and Hank Williams Snr. and Jnr.

In 2004, Robert wanted to let his fans get an insight of where he came from and his background in Louisiana. He started a trend of taking his fans on tour with him to the USA, visiting places like Nashville, Memphis, Austin, San Antonio, Branson and New Orleans, which has gone down a storm. Most of the people who have travelled on these trips have now become lifelong friends of Robert’s and have got to meet his family in
Louisiana and see how far he has come. They are always ready for the road when Robert is going back to his roots! During these trips Robert had the opportunity and privilege of

performing at elite venues including; The Midnite Jamboree; The Ernest Tubb Theatre; The Cowboy Church; The Carter Family Fold; The Country Tonite Theatre and in his native Shreveport in Louisiana.

In May of 2015, Robert decided to change his route to take in Europe and has just returned from his second highly successful ‘Boogie on the Brava’ in Spain. Here he hosted an unforgetable week in the Sun with his band. A host of other artists flew out to join in the fun and frolics throughout this wonderful week of top class entertainment. Already, he is working on making his ‘Boogie on the Brava 2017’ an even better week if that is at all possible!!

Robert also flew out to his homestate of Louisiana in the USA to record a radio documentary with RTE, which was aired on RTE radio last December. This captured Robert’s life and humble beginning before he came to Ireland and started his music career. It also had interviews with his family and gave an idea of where this Louisiana Man came from!

Finishing of the month of June, Robert was delighted to be awarded the first ever RTE ‘Video of the Year’ Award at the 2016 ICMA’s in Dublin, which is a huge milestone in his career to date.

The summer season saw Robert Mizzell & his band on the road four or five nights of the week, taking their authentic sound of country music to every corner of the Country. Having just released his first single of his brand new álbum ‘Travelling Shoes’ Robert is delighted with the feedback he is receiving and also the requests for this at his gigs!

All in all Robert Mizzell is extremely busy, both on and off the road and proving to be a huge hit wherever he plays. His warm character and genuine personality does not fail to earn him a host of new fans. This is proven every night after his gig when he stands to meet and greet all the punters, who have travelled from near and far to see him perform. Anyone who has ever been to one of his shows will agree that it is two hours of non-stop entertainment and that Robert Mizzell definitely puts his heart and soul into every song proving why he is one of Ireland’s top country music recording artists!

Patrick Feeney - The young singing sensation from Co. Sligo

He is originally from Battlefield, Culfadda, but now lives in the village of Gurteen a few miles away. Patrick always thought he was going to be a farmer when he was young but as he was growing up he learned the drums and keyboards and from there Patrick developed a keen interest in music. It was in his blood as his father, also Patrick, was a well-known musician and had been involved in the music industry for over 30 years.

At the tender age of 14, Patrick and his father had a two piece band and were playing at local gigs. They continued gigging until Patrick began studying sales and marketing in Sligo. After completing his studies he went to work for Cadbury's. However, Patrick had caught the music bug, and because his job kept him from performing, he decided to leave Cadbury's and concentrate full time on his music. He soon he met with manager Kevin Mc Cooey who thought Patrick had a unique voice, and signed him up to front the Johnny Loughrey Band, with whom he released a number of singles.

Patrick formed his own band and went professional in the music business at the young age of 19. And so far Patrick has recorded 8 Hugely Successful Albums. His new Country Album will be released in Spring 2013.

Despite only recently turning 30 he has realised many of his ambitions and dreams including :

Sell-out Tours of Ireland and The UK
The Gurteen goes to Spain (Music Holidays where Patrick takes his Fans to The Costa Del Sol - always a sell out)
TV Appearances on: The Late Late Show, Nationwide, Ireland AM, Seoige and O'Shea, The Daniel O' Donnell Show and The 7.30 Show on UTV.....
Receiving "DVD of the Year 2011" as voted by the Sunday World readers.

Aside from his individual successes Patrick was also asked to join Robert Mizzell and Jimmy Buckley to form The Three Amigos in spring 2010. The trio continue to enjoy massive success after three sell-out concert tours of Ireland and they plan to tour abroad in 2013.

Patrick, who recently celebrated his 30th Birthday with a musical weekend in the Mullingar Park Hotel, is acclaimed for his rousing live performances and is known for the credibility and passion he brings to all the songs that he performs.

He is also renowned for the humour he brings to his shows. This can be seen on his DVD but is funnier live so check out his live Tour to see his unique blend of comedy and music. First and foremost though, Patrick Feeney is a natural entertainer and his live dance/concert show are a must see for all music lovers.

John Bishop - Winging it Around Ireland

Ahead of John's shows at Dublin's 3Arena on 6, 7 & 8 October, he will be touring across Ireland for two weeks in September for a series of shows in six counties - Mayo, Galway, Cork, Clare, Limerick and Leitrim. John said “The chance to see parts of Ireland I have never seen before and return to venues I have played in the past was too good an opportunity to miss.”

On announcing Winging It, John said: "When I start this ew tour, it will be three years since my last live show Supersonic, which is the longest break I've ever had.  I'm very much looking forward to getting back on the road - there really is nothing like performing stand-up in front of a live audience.  The new show is called Winging It, and in some respects having come to comedy relatively late, it sometimes feels like that’s what I'm doing in life!  But I'm enjoying every minute of it."

Winging It will see John back on stage for his fifth UK & Ireland tour, performing in his own inimitable style.  His last tour ‘Supersonic’ was watched by more than 500,000 people and received huge critical acclaim.  ‘Rollercoaster’ in 2012 was another sell out, and followed the successes of his ‘Sunshine’ tour in 2011 and the ‘Elvis Has Left The Building’ show in 2010, for which he was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award.

John Bishop has had an incredible career.  Within three years of his first ever comedy gig, John was playing to sold out arena audiences across the country and released the fastest selling stand-up DVD in UK history.

He has achieved huge success with a number of his own comedy, entertainment and documentary shows including ‘John Bishop’s Australia’ (BBC1), ‘John Bishop’s Britain’ (BBC1), ‘John Bishop’s Only Joking’ (Sky1), ‘The John Bishop Show’ (BBC1), ‘The John Bishop Christmas Show’ (BBC1) and ‘John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure’ (ITV1).

Recently John turned his hand to something completely different – interviewing.  A new series called ‘John Bishop: In Conversation With…’ sees him chatting, one on one, with some of the UK’s biggest names from the world of entertainment, sport and music to discover the people behind the public persona, in 10 intimate and revealing one hour interviews on the W Channel.

John has recently made a return to acting – he is currently filming a new ITV drama, Fearless. Written by Homeland writer Patrick Harbinson and produced by Mammoth Screen (credits include Poldark and Victoria), the six part series will TX next year.

    ‘Unimprovable…comedy superstar’

    ‘King of the one-hundred-liner’

‘Home is not only where Bishop’s heart clearly and

endearingly is – it’s where his art is, too’

    Daily Telegraph

His Supersonic show easily confirms that John Bishop has finally

taken on the mantle of Britain’s top comic’
